Hey, Great Falls, do you want Big Brother Helena to control how citizens in Great Falls choose to budget, zone our community, and manage our resources?
I say, “Hell no!”
And why does Great Falls Senator Jeremy Trebas think that his SB266 is a good idea for our community?
Here’s what SB266 will do in Great Falls if passed – we will be required to allow triplex and fourplex housing in areas of town where currently only single-family homes are permitted.
‘Required‘ is the operative word.
- No local input from homeowners impacted the most by the Trebas zoning mandate.
- No local planning board, comprised of local citizens, to examine the pros and cons of new triplexes and fourplexes in your neighborhood.
- No local city commission or local city planning department vetting of potential development in a beautiful Great Falls neighborhood.
None of that. Just a command from legislators and bureaucrats in Helena that we must allow triplexes and fourplexes in our single family housing zoned neighborhoods.
And that’s not all SB266 does to destroy local control by local citizens. You can read the entire top-down, one-size-fits-all, over-regulating piece of legislation,SB266, here.
There may be some cases where a triplex or fourplex would make sense in some single-family zoned neighborhoods – but why do 150 state legislators, who meet for only 90 days every 2 years and over 90% of whom have never lived in Great Falls or know much about us, think they know what works in our community better than Great Fallsians do?

Is HB266 good or right for Great Falls? Hell no!
Agreed! The people of Great Falls know about Great Falls than do the those in Helena! Unfortunately, this isn’t the only example of trying legislate Great Falls matters from Helena.
Isn’t Trebas from Great Falls
You mean like, in the article where it says “Great Falls Senator Trebas”. Yea, I think that means he is from Great Falls
