A Great Falls commission/mayor forum hosted by the Great Falls Association of Realtors was attended by all of the candidates – except mayoral hopeful Jasmine Taylor. She claims that she had no clue there was a forum scheduled and never received the email notice because it was sent to the wrong email address.
It’s unfortunate that she wasn’t there, because the Realtors didn’t get an opportunity to hear some answers from a mayoral candidate to some important questions for their industry and for the Great Falls public in general.
Here are four questions that Taylor could have, and should have, answered at the event and which could be asked at the next forum if she shows up:
“Ms. Taylor, you have previously made it clear that you refuse to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Can you explain to the many veterans and active military in Great Falls why you seem to hold our flag and country in such disdain?”
“You stated the following in a recent video on your campaign website, ‘Things like healthcare, housing, food, internet, education; all of that, all of that should be base level provided for us. All of that should be base level provided for us.’ Who is going to provide the housing for everyone and how would that affect our housing market and the livelihoods of local Realtors?”
“You have also previously said that, ‘Everything about our country’s policing system is shameful…I will say again, defund the police…’ and ‘We need protection FROM the police. Defund the police. Defund the police. Defund the police…” and ‘Defund the police. They don’t make us safer, and if you’re anything but White and Cis they make you even less safe. Defund the police. Defund the police.’ How would defunding our local police and implying that our law enforcement folks are racist homophobes make our neighborhoods safer, and how would that impact our profession as brokers for local buyers and sellers of homes in Great Falls neighborhoods?”
“You recently said that your ‘financial tip’ and economic platform is to ‘seize the means of production’. How would that Marxist ideology translate locally and what would it mean for local businesses, the housing market, and the Great Falls economy generally?”
Local Realtors, law enforcement folks and families, local business owners, and military folks all deserve direct, straightforward answers to these questions from someone who wants to be the mayor of Great Falls.
Being a no show for Great Falls isn’t going to cut it.
The goal isn’t to win. The goal is to grow her social media so she can monetize it.
And the goals of the republican party are to attack people they don’t agree with.
The real bootlickers are already in office. Show a spine and do what you were elected to do. Serve the people and not the fascist government.
Serve the people the way you think they should?
